Caiano

Caiano produces the wines Caiano Chianti Classico and Caiano Chianti Classico Riserva. The wines are made from the grapes Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Caiano are continuously working to develop a wine of high quality, and since the vineyard was bought in 1997 we have among other things made considerable investments in new and modern equipment, like ferment tanks controlled by temperature and French oak casks for storing.

The fields are also subjected to a program of renovation, and today about half of the fields of about 20 acres are replanted. The work has resulted that the wines from Caiano from the year 1999 have been qualified for using the Italian quality brand DOCG. This means that the wine is under quality control respecting the kind of grapes, sensory control and stringent production demands. An oenologist is employed as a consultant for the production.
