English born Tremayne Smith originally studied to be a chef before segueing into a career in wine. In 2014, seven years after he graduated from his winemaking courses, Tremayne would start his own label ‘The Blacksmith’ in Paarl just north of Stellenbosch, South Africa. He has focused in on older vineyards of Colombard, Cinsault, Grenache & Carignan. Looking to find minerality, lift and more-ish drinkability by means of a lo-fi winemaking sensibility.
